The electric fan upgrade is a very common upgrade. It is more efficient than the stock fan during the hot summer days All you need is a ford taurus fan(90; 95) Adjustable thermostat with temp probe Volvo relay Wires Side piece of stock shroud so the coolant reservoir can be used.
Im sure others that have gone with this upgrade will post up their ideas and insights. Thanks

We didn't have to use the Volvo relay on mine. The low side of the fan puts out over 2500 cfm on the low side.

If you wanted to use the high side then you have to switch it. Mine is on the automatic relay. Charlie and James helped me with mine

You need a relay but not necessarily the Volvo relay

The Volvo relay will give you the option of using the high and low speeds of the fan without rewiring. It is basically two relays in one

All except it will feed off a coolant temp switch for the low side. High side will be toggled for me.

Ok I understand what you guys are saying about the volvo relay. Im simply saying mine is not wired that way. Does it have a relay yes but not the volvo relay. The temp switch activates it.

If im not mistaken the cfm for the low side is around 3200.. not 2500.. And yes the volvo relay will work with just the low side as well.. bit over kill if your not gonna run the high side.. tj's will never need the high side... ever.. unless something else is wrong.

Well I need to figure out whats wrong with mine because , altho it doesn't "overheat", my temp will creep up when I'm towing a trailer or boat so I will eventually be wiring mine with the Volvo relay so I can switch to high fan when towing.

Would it be easy to wire in a 3 way switch? Low, high, and off?
