Since I've had the truck it's always looked like the springs weren't parallel with each other and crooked with the frame. Finally got the tape measure out and checked it and the rear springs actually were narrower in the rear than they were in the front so I ordered new shackle mounts and rear shackles. Off came the rear bumper thing and spare tire mount. Rebuilding it tonight with left over 2x4 quarter wall. Will cap the rear tube and get itnallntacked up so when new parts come in I can mock up suspension and then burn it all in. Getting closer all the time. GG

Side note to ordering the driveshaft.
I ordered it from Adams Driveshaft. Told him what I wanted and gave him the measurements. He called Friday and told me he wanted to give me a final price before he charged my card. The rear shaft, 2 1/2 inch .095 tube with all new flanges and u joints was $325 shipped. I was expecting something in the 4-500 range. Well while we were in the phone I was under my truck measuring for the front one and it's ordered also. They both should be here by Wednesday.
Can't wait to see this thing move under its own power again.

Side tech on the drive shaft
There are theee flange patterns for mini trucks
1) 79-83 solid axle 2) 84-85 solid axle 3) IFS 86-94ish
All these are capable of 30 degrees max. My flanges are from an earlier Landcruiser. According to John at Adams these are good for a max of 42 degrees.
12 degrees is a huge difference.
Another thing with the Landcruiser stuff the U-joints are bigger and the flanges are thicker.
Just a little Toyota trivia for those that care

Update
My rear spring have always looked like they were crooked, to me at least. Got the new used spring packs mounted to the axle and rolled it under the truck and lowered the truck down. The springs started moving to the drivers side. Tried that several times and same thing every time. Finally got to looking t the front mounts for the springs. Well it turns out that the front spring mounts are mounted crooked.
So tomorrow more time with cutting wheels and flap discs. My order from ruff stuff should be here by Tuesday. I have OT lined up for Tue, Wed, and Thur. So Friday and sat I'll by mocking everything up and hopefully have it sitting on the tires by sat afternoon. Hopefully have everything burned in next weekend also.

Front drive shaft came today. The rest of parts to redo the rear suspension should be here by the 30th. It's looking like Friday and Saturday are going to be spent getting the rear end mocked up and back on it's wheels.

Started to mock up the rear suspension and made a discovers. The guy I bought this from cobbled the front spring hangers on worse than I originally thought. Anyway to get the hangers where they need to be I'm going to have to cut the frame and kinda French the hangers in. The frame will be cut where the silver line is so I'll have a flat mounting surface. Also discovered that the frame narrows in the rear so aligning everything with the center of the frame doesn't work. GG

Never planned on cutting into the frame but the spring hangers hit right in a bend in the frame and there was no way to mount them where there wasn't a huge gap at one end or the other. This is what we would up with. Hope it works GG

Making frame reinforcement plates tonight and tomorrow for the area I cut into the frame and the one rusty spot I found on the frame. Hopefully that and drilling and mounting the driveshafts will be finished tomorrow afternoon.
After that it's just putting gas tank back in and getting exhaust done and I should be mobile and back on the road. Fingers crossed.

Latest news n driveline fiasco. Ordered triple drilled flanges from trail gear and my driveshafts had land cruiser flanges. Patterns are all different. Tried drilling the DS flange but that didn't work at all so now I've ordered blank flanges for xfer case and diffs. Drilling them to fit what I have. New used bolts on order. Hopefully next weekend this thing will be moving under its own power again.
