So to do this right, do I need to wire my bar to a relay? I'm hearing yes and no out in the interwebz neverland! LOL Here are the specs on the bar I'm getting... LED Power: 180W (31.5") 14400 lumens. Operating Voltage: 10-30V DC. Waterproof rate: IP 68. 60pcs*3w high intensity CREE LEDs. Current draw 14.5A @ 12V,7.25A@24V And a link to the bar I bought... bluefire-lights.com/LED-Power-180W-14400-Lumens-315-Light-Bar-BLU-3035L180W.htm

To run 180W at 14A then I would say to be on the safe side yes.. You don't have to as long as you have good gauge wire and a fuse.. but it's not a bad idea..

I would say yes. All of ours even the 12in come pre wired with a relay.

The guy I bought it from suggests 14 gauge wire and a 15 amp fuse. The switch is good for either 15 or 20 amps, I can't remember. Looks like I'll be doing a relay just to be safe!
I have 14 gauge speaker wire here at the house. Is that good or do I need to get 14 gauge regular wire...not sure what the differences are.

Can someone walk me through how to wire up a relay? My light bar just made it but it will be a few days before the switch gets here so I'm going to wire up a temp switch for now and that will deffinitely need a relay.

I also have 14 gauge low voltage wire...lol
Just went and picked up $50 worth of wire, connectors, and a relay. Gonna do it right I guess!

Always use a relay when wiring anything up you don't want to backfired and ruin. Also it will make your switches last a lot longer. Everything I put on a switch that I add I use a relay. It's just good business.
