We have two shelter dogs and a shelter cat so I like the direction we are headed here.

I've got a couple people willing to help with raffle items, if we do a non-kill shelter.
either at our run or at the event where we hand the money over to the shelter.
also looks like I have another local bakery that will help with ALL charity events IF all goes as she plans. But that's all I'm saying about that right now till plans are finalized a little more.
we should do an adoption day for the shelter when we present the money... help them try to adopt out pets. Make a nice show of jeeps, do another raffle or 2 ON SITE for a few extra dollars. Might try to get Petco or Hollywood feed to offer some specials to get people to the store... I think it could be big.

Guys, I love the idea of the shelter charity. I will talk to my friends at the Oakland Hollywood Feed and get them to do something for us. I was reading this stuff and thinking about how to integrate an adoption day, that would be awesome. The name of the run is spot on! Lets do this, I'm all in.

I think everyone is in agreement that the charity needs to be a pet shelter.. The Founders will pick one and then we'll go from there.. I don;t think a poll is needed now..  |

The Southaven Petco has the humane society at their store all the time trying to adopt pets.. I bet I can convince them to tape off a huge area for us to park and go in with them for an adoption day!!

Hollywood feed has Tails of hope every 2nd Saturday in OB. Plus there is a new Hollywood feed across from SAMs in Southaven that might want some help with exposure... All the locations either petco or HF would be prime exposure locations for us and them. |
