So I've got a cherokee, when you put it in drive it dosent want to drive. When you put it down in first it takes of great then you just shift into drive and go. The trans fluid isn't burnt smells good.....any ideas?

Check the T.V. cable(throttle valve). It is attached at the throttle body. it senses throttle position and in turn sends the correct line pressure for shifts. Mine would not shift out of second one day after wheeling. I thought I had screwed something up. Turns out the T.V. cable needed adjusting. A few minutes later all was well.

This.. the Catalina did the opposite.. it would shift too soon and bog down.. But if you put it in 1st and run up the gears it would shift fine.. Made my own cable and adjusted it.. shifts fine now..

Haven't had a chance to work on this yet, but hopefully I can get it fixed in the next week and maybe go wheeling in a couple weeks...
