I re-enforced mine with some of the aftermarket braces plus Clyde added two roof support bars. I feel pretty safe in mine at this point on basic roll overs and stuff but I would not trust it on a hill where I may roll 2-3 times down a rocky hill. I think the big issue is lack of side support. Front or rear roll over's may be ok with a few braces but side to side might be tough. Most crushed cages I've seen collapse to the left or right side leaving either the passenger or driver open to the cage or rocks.
I seriously want an after market cage but I've just got too much in my RZR that I'll never get back and I can't justify the cost. I installed 4pt harnesses and if I try something crazy I wear a helmet just in case. If I had kids, I'd probably opt for a full custom cage but on a RZR4 that is some money. Shane might be able to chop your cage and build up some weak points. I talked to Clyde at one point about doing something like this and he told me around $1,200 to make mine pretty solid.
Oh yea...one more small thing to add to your list. Harnesses. Even with factory seats they really hold everyone in place

I'm new to the whole custom cage world...not sure I want anything as super cool as what clyde turns out. Does a simple cage like I posted from utv giant fit the bill or does it look like it is lacking?

That is a hard question. I think it is an upgrade from stock but not something like Clyde makes. It's all relative to what you want. Clyde's cages include integrated front and rear bumpers for added protection. If you add those to the UTV Giant cage and upgrade to DOM, you are at $2000.
If you are ok without bumpers then I would just do the DOM upgrade and I think you would be safe in most any situation. I'd keep a few all purpose (skateboard, skiing) type helmets handy especially for the kids when around rocks...

With all the upgrades...com, bumpers, 30" light bar, powdercoated, and shipped was right at $2500 if I remember. I'll talk to Shane or someone closer to time I guess.

You could most likely get $400 for your doors and a couple hundred for your cage. Does it come powder coated or raw steel? How much for shipping? Also, I'd double check and make sure the front bars around the headlights don't cast shadows on the trails for night riding. Just looks like it would shadow the peripheral of the light. No big deal on normal riding around trails but on rocks it might bug you a little.

That is raw steel and I would drive to Kentucky and drop it off...the cages are one off custom builds.
Good eye pointing out the shadows, I'll check into that. 30" light bar would fix that though! Lol!!!

You should check him out...rzr sharp customs on Facebook. He has a nice 2 seater cage for sale right now for $600. I think he gets around $1200 for cage and bumpers.
